A 24 year old female underwent a cosmetic procedure to reduce her frown lines and also eliminate a scar on her forehead that she got as a kid.

Using a newly developed technique, the plastic surgeon went in through her eyelids to get to the scar tissue and release the brow muscles.

While recovering she noticed that she had lost the use of her right upper eyelid. This caused her a loss of visual field because her drooping eyelid was covering nearly 50 percent of her eye.

Alerting her surgeon to this problem, a 2nd surgery was scheduled to identify and correct the cause of the ptosis. Following her 2nd surgery, the ptosis only became worse.

Realizing there was a serious breakdown in care, she began researching other doctors who specialized in people born with this condition and quickly scheduled a consultation with oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Kami Parsa.

During her initial consultation with Dr. Parsa, he immediately reconized what the anatomical problem was and ured her that is was something that could be fixed. Following her surgery with Dr. Parsa her expectations were blown out of the water and she now has 100% recovery of her eyelid.

Ptosis, pronounced toe-sis, is the medical term for drooping of the upper eyelids. The droopy eyelid can be mild to severe. People who have ptosis may complain that people tell them they look “tired or lazy.” Because of a constant effort to raise the eyelids it is not uncommon to also complain of fatigue and tension headaches.

Dr. Kami Parsa specializes exclusively in reconstructive, revisional and cosmetic surgery of the eyes and surrounding tissue. His expertise in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery has made him the choice for patients who have had previous plastic surgery and now need revisional surgery around the eyes.

In addition to maintaining a busy surgical practice, Dr. Parsa is involved in several humanitarian organizations. He is the President of Universal Children’s Medical Fund, a non-profit organization committed to delivering surgical care and education to children in developing countries. He is an active volunteer surgeon for International Kids Fund and has participated in numerous reconstructive surgeries through this organization. One of these cases was recently featured in an hour-long special entitled A New Face for Marlie on Discovery Health Channel.

I want a Korean or Japanese girlfriend; I’ve been to both countries man times and I’ve noticed that most of the women have eye and nose surgery. I want a Korean or Japanese girl with true beauty. Is it rude to ask them if they had such surgery?

I’m Caucasian if that helps any.

It’s not rude. You said you’ve been to both countries many times. If that’s true, you would know that it’s a fairly standard greeting to comment on someone’s looks: “Your face is looking a little fat.” “You’ve put on a bit of weight since last time I saw you.” “Wow, you’ve really slimmed down.” etc.

The point is that you’re paying attention. That’s what people want to see. If you’re paying attention to people’s eyes, they’ll notice that your level of awareness is a bit higher than others’ and even if they don’t particularly like the comment, will feel safer around you than others.
