Cosmetic Surgery Improves More Than Your Looks
Cosmetic surgery is routinely thought of as a way to improve your looks. Whether you use Botox to soften the lines around your eyes and give your face a more youthful appearance, or to enhance or improve symmetry of your breast, the goal is usually to improve on what nature and genetics have provided.
But according to many recent studies, cosmetic surgery can also act as a mood enhancer, and can make people happier about their appearances, causing them to have a higher quality of life.
Cosmetic surgery is an elective surgery performed to correct or improve a portion of the body. A variety of procedures are available, and many can be completed on an outpatient basis. Procedures may include:
* Facelift
* Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)
* Nose surgery (rhinoplasty)
* Brow lift
* Ear surgery (otoplasty)
* Chin and cheek enhancement
* Jaw Surgery
* Liposuction
* Breast Enhancement
* Minimally invasive procedures such as Botox and Restylane
While the surgery itself may create noticeable improvement to one’s appearance, researchers are finding out it may do even more for the patients self esteem.
Cosmetic surgery may actually have both physical and psychological long term benefits. When a patient decides to proceed with cosmetic surgery, they are taking a proactive approach in improving something that has bothered them for a long period of time. Research has shown that if we are unhappy about a part of our body, it causes us not to be at peak performance. But if we willingly move forward to correct the problem area, we are making a conscious choice to improve the quality of our lives. That choice can not only improve one’s looks, but also change the way they perceive themselves. As a person makes a proactive choice in improving their looks, it’s also causing a subconscious change in attitude.
While researchers have just begun to uncover the psychological benefits of plastic surgery, one thing is certain: cosmetic surgery helps people take control over something they have been unhappy about. A cosmetic surgeon can help you enhance the shape of your body through breast augmentation or liposuction. He can correct deformities that have been with you since birth. Or he can restore your youthful appearance, allowing your looks to align with your attitude.
In a sense, cosmetic surgery offers you a second chance on what nature didn’t provide the first time around. You have the opportunity to defy both genetics and time, and use a variety of procedures to enhance your body appearance.
The choice is yours. Only you can take the first step towards looking better; and feeling better too. Get started today.

Should an already attractive male get a nose job to improve his looks?
I have a roman nose which is slightly hooked, and i think i make it seem worse than it really is. I think getting the nose job would bring out more of my features like eyes and cheekbones>>>im all for improvement, especially something that is out for everyone to see, your face….please help.
Another question is when will people learn to accept themselves for any "flaws" they might have, who says that people have to have straight pointy noses??? Is cosmetic surgery wrong or appropriate>

Beauty is an opinion but if you like it go for it.
As long as it is for you not society.

You answered your own question with the second paragraph! I think cosmetic surgery should be saved for deformity. Or people who are getting old and want t little lift.

You don’t have to. I’m sure there are people in your life that could not care less about your nose. However, if it makes you feel good, then do it.
As a guy, you don’t need to have much work to your nose. Women usually want tiny perfect noses, but a strong but refined nose on a man is handsome.

I think cosmetic surgery is not the way to go. My cousin had a nose job and it is really a painful procedure and you end up with a lot of bruising for a long time(as well as a dozen doctor’s checkups) My personal opinion is that a nose that looks a little differant from the norm is unique and can be way more flattering then a "perfect" nose.

I have had cosmetic surgery on my eye lids and was ready to do my nose too but my finances avoided me to continue. I personally will have to say that if you are really upset with your looks then do it. I have always hated my nose cuz it has the Italian "hook" too. But if you feel that you need to correct your nose go for it. It will boost your esteem also and give you confidence to have a happier life. Be sure to investigate on a certified plastic surgeon and all the pros and cons on the surgery. My plastic surgeon was going to charge $4,000.00 USD in California and that was including anesthesia. Good Luck

If you get a good doctor, there are certain pills (I forgot the name) that you can take weeks prior that will avoid the bruising and apply a bag of frozen peas or corn on the swellling…it goes away.
