The Possible Dangers of Cosmetic Surgery

An anesthetic complication during plastic surgery killed her. She was the rising American novelist. She was none other than Olivia Goldsmith.

This unpleasant situation puts a kind of conflict whether we opt for the cosmetic surgery or not.

The risks, if any, depend on the kind of surgeries done and the patients’ health conditions including diabetes, allergies and heart problems. However, cynics reject the idea of cosmetic surgery as the means of outer perfection; they rather accept the natural beauty.

Get the blood tests and physical reports before looking for a cosmetic surgeon; you should also consult with the surgeons to know the post-effects of this surgery so that you can be prepared.

Some General Risks:

- Bleeding

Within the first 24 hours of the surgery, there is a possibility of blood clotting in the operated area. It is called Hematoma. This is generally reduced as the body immunity takes over, but sometimes the excess blood is required to be taken out by a needle. A large hematoma will squeeze the tissue and blocks the oxygen circulation. This leads to skin death and similar other complications like infection, wound separation and necrosis.

Within the 72 hours of the surgery, there may even be the chances of fever, redness, foul odor and thick yellow or white discharge from the operated area.

- Suture Effect

The body can reject suture, a foreign object, resulting in a visible suture splitting outside the skin. It might produce scar, which in turn might project suture granuloma, a bumpy skin. If the bacteria infect the area, it could cause infection like suture abscess. As such, the skin becomes red, tender and there might even be the pus around the suture.

Suture material and suture technique should be checked before the operation to reduce the risks.

- Wound Breaking

Bleeding, too much movement, nicotine, steroid, heavy blood sugar, Hematoma and other infections cause wound separation.

- Necrosis

In times of facelift, tummy tucks and breast reduction the Necrosis is highest possibility due to the insufficient supply of oxygen to the operated area with primary signs of blue, purple or grey cast. Later it will turn black and may smell if it is not treated at its earliest stage by releasing suture and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

- Nerve Impairment

After the surgery, the patient might face a temporary numbness, tingling and paralytic condition to the affected area. This is the anesthetic reaction actually. This will generally last for 6 months, but can be extended up to 2 to 3 years to have the original sensation so long as the skin regenerates there.

Other than the previous mentioned probabilities, there can be scarring and the patient could even face the adverse effects of the anesthesia.

looking to god to change something. to the Christians who can help me?
hello everyone, i am a 17 year old male. i turn 18 in 1 month. when i was about 12-13 years old i developed breast tissue underneath my nipples. also known as gynocomastia. the breast tissue grew right underneath my nipple and got pretty big. i went to the doctor to find the problem and he said it would go away within the next two years, but if it doesn’t then the only thing i can do is surgery. it concerned me because my chest looks feminine and it inst attractive at all. i have a very muscular body everywhere else but my chest because i developed breast tissue. it has no been 4-5 years and the condition never changed. so i must do surgery to remove it. the only problem is that if i get surgery, there is a chance my nipples will be deformed and they may cave in. which would look really ugly. now, i know Jesus healed and changed many peoples lives and i know that through him all things are possible. so i want to go to him with this physical issue i have. i know with faith he can change me and shrink the breast tissue in my chest. the only thing i am having a hard time with is, my issue is a cosmetic issue. it is about my body and my looks. i am not in any danger or risks. i just don’t like it because it is unattractive and i get made fun off because of it. i know jesus healed many blind, dissabled, weak, people when he walked this earth. and i know he left his holy spirit here for us. is it wrong for me to ask god to reduce the breast tissue?
i am not saying this is gods fault. i am just bringing this before him and asking him to change the breast tissue. for some reason he let it grow inside me.

And how is this God’s fault?

It isn’t wrong to ask God. Contact your priest for prayer from the elders.

The breast tissue does not need to be healed for there is nothing wrong with it. You need it to be removed from your body. I firmly believe that God can do that. In Faith, ask God to allow the tissue to be dissolved into your body and your chest to be normal in appearance.

Understand that you are asking for a miracle and we must keep create the atmosphere for a miracle. Stay in the Word, Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word. Don’t let negative words influence your faith and keep sin out of your life.

I will stand in agreement with you for your miracle.

Maybe you can fool yourself into the change you need but I would seek counsel.

    i will pray for you.

eat less meat and more vegetables especially, in your case … sweet potato.

it removes tissue growth in the body over 3 months … eat some sweet potato every day … this is what i’ve heard.

This a question for another forum. Have you had endocrine studies?

Sorry to hear about your problem but, consider that there are children who will die today of leukemia, people who will die in earthquakes or fires, men and women with terrible drug and alcohol problems, all of whom pray with no response. Consider that millions of amputees have prayed to be made whole, and not one ever has. Consider that mumbling mystical incantations into outer space has never, not once, been shown to have the slightest effect on worldly events.

Now… do you really want to take your nipples to Jesus? Let doctors, men of science, do their work and accept that the result, good or bad, is still going to be a lot better than many, many people have it right now. Good luck.

Pray and ask others to pray. Make sure to think very hard about every decision you make based on your situation. Research surgeons and don’t just talk to one. Get at least a few opinions and estimates.

Look in the Book of Samuel in the Old Testament. Samuel was looking for who should be ordained the King of the Hebrews. Saul was everything that looked good. He was tall, dark, handsome, and popular. But God told Samuel to "look not on his countenance or the height of his stature…for the Lord seeth not as man seeth, for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart."
So, my friend, stop looking at your body as being the measure of your character. Start working on your soul. Become a caring and kind person in character. It’s a bit cliche, but try to develop your personality and character so that people will be attracted to you more because of what you are, and not because of what you look like.

That’s not going to help buddy. If there is a God, he/she has given humanity the intelligence to develop technologies to help themselves. That is called "medicine". God is not Christian, Muslim , Jewish or Buddhist. God manifests miracles through humans only. Go find the right doctor. He will be your god. If prayer alone takes care of problems, the world should be free of every problem by now. My sympathies are with you. Gynecomastia is treatable. Go find a physician who can treat you.
